Class of 2022
Ranna Al-Dossari, DO
Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine
I hit the jackpot with this residency. It’s my home away from home. Having a supportive group of residents and faculty has made residency such an enjoyable experience. Outside of work, I enjoy working out co-residents, cooking, and hosting game nights. I plan to start a geriatric fellowship after graduation.
Patrick Coate, MD
Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine
In my non-medical life, much of my joy comes from spending time with my family- and when not with them, I enjoy tooling around in my wood shop. One of my favorite qualities about our residency program is the warmth and support demonstrated every day by fellow residents. It is a culture that invites questions without judgement, asks how you are doing when tired, and lends a hand when overwhelmed.
Jae Dequina, DO
Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine
I was born in Houston and grew up in Pearland, and I’m grateful to do residency close to home. I’m even more blessed with the friendly residents and faculty who put the “family” in family medicine… not to mention the food! I love having fellow residents who can play Codenames, sing karaoke, or try new restaurants with. After residency, I plan to do outpatient family medicine in my hometown.
Brian Espiritu, MD
University of Utah School of Medicine
The amazing food choices in Houston and my interview day drew me to MHFMRP. Looking back at my three years of residency, I'll miss the game nights, food hangouts, and the support from and camaraderie with my co-residents. Outside of residency you'll find me reading a book while drinking traditional yerba mate and listening to Ludovico Einaudi, cooking (a hobby picked up in residency), patio gardening, or hanging out with friends. After residency, I'll be returning back home to Arizona to practice outpatient family medicine.
Bahrom Firozgary, MD
Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine
Bahrom was drawn to the program's nurturing, diverse, and amiable faculty/residents in addition to its strong inpatient and outpatient training. As a native Houstonian, he enjoys watching and playing sports, group workouts, playing guitar with co-residents, residency game nights, and trying new foods with friends/family. He plans to complete a primary sports medicine fellowship and eventually plans to work in academia.
